What Pastors & Spouses are Saying

Keynote Video Presenters

Bryan-and-Cyndy-Sherwood

Cyndy & Bryan Sherwood

Cyndy Sherwood is the co-founder and Creative Director of His Healing Light Ministries (HHLM). A Bible teacher since 1972, she began creating The Healing Journey in 2000; after nine years of seeking the Lord through her suffering and pain, Cyndy discovered God’s truths that heal and restore us to the fullness of life that He intends for all of us. She has written five Bible studies, three devotionals, a nonfiction book, “Road Map to Healing,” and her story, “My Healing Journey: From Surviving to Thriving.”

Cyndy’s husband, Bryan Sherwood, is the Director of Operations for HHLM and oversees the ministry. While Cyndy originally wrote The Healing Journey for women, Bryan knew God’s principles were for everyone. So, he began a men’s class in 2009. God used this group to bring great healing to Bryan’s heart and mind. Years later, he filmed the Men’s Healing Journey and The Healing Weekend with Cyndy. Bryan and Cyndy live in Colorado Springs and have many adult children and grandchildren.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can attend The Healing Week for Pastors & Spouses?

  • All adults who are involved in full-time or bi-vocational Christian ministry.
  • All pastors, their spouses, and anyone in gospel ministry (i.e. missionaries, youth workers, pastoral staff, and other ministry leaders) are welcome to attend.
  • The Healing Week happens during the week (not on the weekend) to protect your Sundays. Typically, we begin on Monday afternoon and wrap up early afternoon on Thursday.

Do Pastors & Spouses need to attend The Healing Week together?

Pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders are welcome to attend The Healing Week with or without their spouses. While it can be a mutually encouraging blessing to attend with your spouse, The Healing Week is not a marriage retreat. It is a proven biblical model for life-changing healing. Participants work the healing steps into their own life individually and in their small group, while allowing personal time for rest and reflection.

How does The Healing Week fit with the 29-week Healing Journey class?

  • The Healing Week (THW) is 20% of the 29-week Healing Journey class. THW will equip pastors and their spouses with the essentials: proven Biblical-based processing tools that can be used for a lifetime of vocational ministry.
  • After taking THW, many pastors and leaders see the long-term benefits of deeper study and desire to take the full 29-week class to grow even deeper in their walk with God to help others.
  • Others who attend THW have taken the 29-week Healing Journey, but they want a “tune-up” or have experienced a difficult season in their ministry and want healing for recent events.

What happens in the Large Group, Individual Work, and Small Group times?

  • In the large groups, we will watch eight, 30-minute video lessons which are taught by either Cyndy or Bryan Sherwood.
  • Individual work is a time for you to process the lesson after the video and privately record answers in a workbook about the topic or healing step that was taught.
  • In the small group, the leader will guide you through the topic or healing step and pray for you. Everything shared during the small group is safely confidential.

Can I be in a Small Group with my spouse or a friend?

No, men and women are in separate small groups to provide a safe space amongst their peers who are also in vocational ministry. It is also a best practice that family members and close friends are not in the same small group. While you can sit together in the large group, we divide everyone into small groups of no more than 5 or 6 participants per group.

Do I have to read my Story in front of everyone?

  • No, you will read your preprepared story in a safe small group of no more than 5 or 6 others plus the small group leader.
  • Stories are held in the utmost of confidentiality and will not be shared outside of the small group setting.
  • After you register, the Hope & Healing Administrative Assistant will provide you with tools to help guide you in preparing your story in advance.
